At Carney & Son 72 Degrees, we are an HVAC company that is locally owned, family operated and has been our family for over 30 years. We help Charleston residents and property owners address their heating and air conditioning challenges. Established in 1984 by James W. Carney and his son Curtis Carney, we started out serving the local communities around James Island and Folly Beach.
After high praise and word-of-mouth reviews made their way around the community, Carney & Son 72 Degrees now serves the greater Charleston area.
Founder James W. Carney, though “retired,” still occasionally works with the team at Carney & Son 72 Degrees. Curtis Carney became a partner at the company and, after working next to his father for many years, took over running operations. Curtis’ son Christopher now follows in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps and is proud to be the third generation of Carney’s serving Charleston’s HVAC needs.
All three have a passion for what they do and have worked tirelessly to develop and maintain enduring relationships with their customers.

James Carney served in the Air Force.
1961- 1981
James Carney worked as a civilian HVAC Tech at the Charleston Air Force Base.

James Carney was stationed at Charleston Air Force Base.
1962
James Carney retired from military service.

Curtis Carney was born.
1984
Carney & Son was co-founded by James and Curtis Carney.

Chris Carney was born.
1995
Curtis became a sole-proprietor. James Carney remains an active leader at Carney & Son.

Chris Carney became co-owner of Carney & Son alongside Curtis Carney, and transitioned the business from Sole Proprietor to LLC.

James Carney retired from Carney & Son at 84 years old.

Carney & Son began sponsoring Pet Helpers.

Partnership with Folds Of Honor began.
